Salvazione Christian School: A Beacon of Hope in Johannesburg
Since its founding in 1991, Salvazione Christian School has stood as a shining light offering hope and opportunity to the underprivileged children of Mayfair West and surrounding areas in Johannesburg, South Africa. As a registered independent institution, Salvazione receives modest government subsidies to provide top-quality, affordable education to children from Slovo Park informal settlement, as well as the nearby communities of Brixton, Crosby, Langlaagte, Soweto, and Roodepoort.
Students pay nominal monthly fees based on their families’ financial situations, with exemptions available for those facing hardship. Salvazione’s highly successful “Adopt A Learner” program also helps many disadvantaged students attend school without the burden of fees through the generous support of donors.
In a meaningful November 2023 partnership, The Spiritual Council (TSC) united with Salvazione Christian School to promote mental health and well-being among students of all ages. Twice monthly, TSC’s dedicated, educated volunteers visit the school to engage the children through mindfulness, yoga, martial arts and age-appropriate discussions designed to nurture self-awareness, emotional balance, and mental stability.
TSC remains fully committed to this transformative project that allows South Africa’s youth to freely express themselves, unleash creativity, engage physically, and cultivate inner peace. It is a tremendous honor for TSC to play an integral role in helping Salvazione Christian School uplift the community’s next generation.
